Thousands of New Yorker’s gathered at City Hall on Thursday, May 12th in protest against Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg’s plan on balancing the city’s budget by laying off 4,728 teachers.

Organized in part by the United Federation of Teachers, teachers, students, workers, and union members marched from City Hall to Wall St., expressing their support for public education and their criticism of Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg.
